More than 100 audio professionals participated in the 14th Annual TEC LA Open Golf Tournament, held last May at the Malibu Country Club, Presented by the Mix Foundation for Excellence in Audio the ever-popular event was sponsored for the second year by GC Pro. The honorary chairman was tournament was 21-time Grammy® winning engineer and producer, Al Schmitt. Sponsors included AlterMedia/studioexpresso, Design FX, KMD Productions, Lurssen Mastering, Natural Soundfields Limited, Record Plant, Sennheiser, Sound Design Corporation, Shure, Sugar Mama’s, The Pass Studios, The Recording Academy’s P&E Wing and Yamaha Commercial Audio.

1st ANNUAL RECORDING INDUSTRY POKER TOURNAMENT
West Los Angeles, CA

In this time of economic uncertainty the recording industry came together to have some fun, win some gear and benefit Sound Art LA. More than 100 players and spectators from across the pro audio industry came out to place their bets at the Village Recorder in West LA, in an event that allowed the LA elite in the pro audio industry to mingle, network and win gear from Telefunken, Audio Technica, Digidesign, SSL and many others.

 1ST ANNUAL MOTION PICTURE SOUND EDITORS CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT
Malibu, CA

It was perfect weather for golf as more than 70 players attended the 1st Annual MPSE Golf Tournament, hosted by Motion Picture Sound Editors, September 14, at the Malibu Country Club. The event was a fundraiser for the MPSE Ethel Crutcher Trust Fund and the Inner-City Filmmakers organization.

25TH ANNUAL TECHNICAL EXCELLENCE & CREATIVITY AWARDS
New York City

Nearly 500 audio industry professionals turned out October 9 in New York City, to recognize the achievements of their peers in sound production and product design. Held for the first time at the Audio Engineering Society Convention, the TEC Awards celebrated its 25th anniversary with a theater-style presentation featuring some of the most illustrious names in sound and music, highlighted by a sentimental tribute to the late music icon, Les Paul.

HARD ROCK CAFÉ & MUSIC IN SCHOOLS TODAY 25TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY
San Francisco

On November 7, Hard Rock Cafe of San Francisco hosted a private, red carpet event to benefit Music in Schools Today (MUST). The event featured live performances by Eoin Harrington and Serena Ryder, an open bar, and dancing. The Live and Silent Auction were a huge success and the event raised more than $9,000 for Music In Schools Today.

STARS ON STAFF CELEBRITY WAITER LUNCHEON
San Francisco

Hosted by Bob Sarlatte, this fun luncheon fundraiser featured silent and live auctions and musical entertainment, all raising money for Music in Schools Today. Celebrity waiters included: Peter Finch and Renee Richardson from KFOG, novelist Herbert Gold, Hooman from Radio Alice, jazz pianist, Mike Greensill, singer/songwriter Eoin Harrington, Nob Hill Gazette publisher Lois Lehrman, jazz vocalist Natasha Miller, singer/songwriter Ian Rhett, KTVU news journalist Tom Vacar, singer/songwriter Hyim and cartoonist/comedian Michael Capozzola.

 SILICON VALLEY ROCKS! 2009, San Francisco

On December 9, tech professionals from around Silicon Valley picked up their guitars and headed to the Great American Music Hall to rock out at Silicon Valley Rocks 2009. This Battle of the Bands fundraiser, just in its second year, raised more than $5,000 for Music In Schools Today.
